So today was a pretty normal day...nothing too special happened in particular. What was a great surprise was that I was supposed to have 5 classes today (Wednesdays at the middle school are pretty stacked) but I ended up only having to teach 3!
Nice little bonus :) I had class the first period and that was only review for the 3rd graders, so there wasn't a whole lot of involvement. Then 2-4 period were off. I basically worked on the powerpoints that are going to be presented at next week's Bunkasai for the speech contest participants. Then for the afternoon I had 5th and 6th period to teach. But overall, not a bad day. It was nice to get to relax a little and be able to collect my thoughts and organize things a little.
Lately, it's been pretty busy. I was wrapping up speech contest things a few weeks ago. Now, I'm getting ready to play the piano in my school's Bunkasai (Culture Fest) on Oct. 30th! Haha, it should be interesting. I've been practicing piano after school to warm up my fingers. I haven't taken official lessons since I graduated from High School....seems like ages ago now! :(
But I really enjoy playing the piano. I never used to like practicing when I was younger, but now I could spend hours at the piano just playing random old songs or making up tunes of my own. And then I've also been going to Judo practice to try and pick up a "Japanese" thing while I'm here. As well, I also had my adult language class tonight.
So to say that I'm pretty busy at the least is an understatement. But it's good, otherwise I'd probably be bored out of my mind! And being bored in the inaka is no good! So I'm glad that I have a variety of things to do and to occupy my time. I think that if I were bored, I could always go to the big city which is only about 1 to 1.5 hours away, but to make that trip on a weeknight or for a short period gets old. Plus, I like to go there on the weekend to be able to get away for a little longer and to enjoy a little more of the life over there and the variety as well!
But, I blabbered on about random things for this post....haha. My goal is to make more regular entries to document my adventures and what's been going on. I realized that some of my other posts were really long and it's tough for people to probably read them and for me to write them. There's always too much that I want to fit in one post and I end up not completing the post or never writing it...so it accumulates into the next one.
With that, I'm out for the night. Peace!
Love learning about your day-to-day life - you're totally selling me on this "move abroad for a few years" thing.
