Always fun times. I'm going to miss Minneapolis mainly because of my friends that were there. Thanks guys for the fun times and keep in touch!

City!

Hey guys so I found out which city I'll be in within the Chiba prefecture. It's a huge prefecture which covers a lot of land and has a total population of about 6 mill. In Japan, a prefecture is basically equivalent to a "state" in the US. I'll be in what looks to be a smaller city on the Pacific Coast called Isumi.

I'm really excited as it will be awesome to be out by the water and kind of in the more country-side of Japan while still being close to the largest Metropolitan city....in the world!

Here's a link to where it is on the map

Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot more information I could find on the city besides that it recently joined two other cities in 2005 to become a larger district. From what I could find and see, it looks like there are a couple festivals that happen during the year in that city and a neighboring city called Ohara. I'm really excited and can't wait to go and see it for myself in July! Hopefully, I'll be finding out more about my living arrangements in the next few weeks. I know I'll have an apartment but I do not know anything about it yet (location, rent, furnishings, etc.). More to come later!

Moving Day

After having lived in Minneapolis for the past 2 years, it's time for me to move out of the twin cities and move back to Milwaukee for a little while before I fly out to Japan. Did I mention, that moving is one of the biggest pains and things that I look forward to the least?!?!! Having to pack up everything and get everything to fit in one small trailer or vehicle is extremely time consuming and painful.....but oh well it must be done!

I'll be spending all day putting everything into boxes and getting everything ready to go!

Japan JET Placement!

So news of our placement in Japan came out today! I've been waiting...actually, the whole process for JET has been one big waiting game, but defintely worth it. SO heeerre it is........................

CHIBA! That's a prefecture right outside of Tokyo; actually, it's considered a "suburb" if you will of Tokyo and heavily populated/developed, so I'm extremely happy! Most likely, I will not be right in the middle of the city of the Chiba area, but within an hour train ride most likely at the furthest point. An added bonus, most of my family lives around this area.....super awesome coincidence! No matter what, I'm extremely satisfied with my placement. I am centrally located in all of Japan which makes it easy for me to be able to pick up and go to any part. I'm also close to the main int'l airport, Narita so when I want to visit other countries it will be a breeeeeze. Also, there are lots of shinkansen (bullet trains) that go from Tokyo to other major cities that I can hop on to make a weekend trip to really anywhere :).

I'll have more news on the city that I'll be in at a later time, but for now, this is what I have!

Self Introduction

Hey Everyone. I've created this blog exclusively to keep all my friends, family, and acquaintances alike up to date on my new adventures as I head over to Japan on the JET program. As of May 5th, I had resigned from the Target Corporation (Target's Headquarters in Minneapolis) to pursue my dream of working internationally. Now follow me on my adventures as I get ready to go to Japan and start a new chapter of my life!

I've never created a blog before, so this whole website/blog thing is all very new to me. Bear with me and you'll start to see some pretty cool things posted and come up on this blog, so thanks for your patience!
